Dainty Asian Flowers

Is grey work-appropriate? Where I work, there is no dress code. One of my friends had purple hair for a while! So when I show up everyday with a new, usually bright manicure, no one blinks an eye. I mean, we can bring our pets into the office, no biggie. However, tomorrow we are having some potential clients come in, and I'll be organizing the lunch, so the potential for them to see my nails is large. With that in mind, I wanted a manicure that was appropriate, but I also really wanted to do this manicure, so I risked it. What do you guys think...appropriate? Would a stickler boss strike down these colors?

I used I Vant to be A-Lone Star (OPI) as the grey base, Be My Valentine (Sinful Colors nail art brush) for the stems, and Illamasqua's Load for the flowers. Subtle?

  1. I think this mani is super cute. I don't think you'd get in trouble for this mani, its super toned down.

  2. I think it's interesting without being inappropriate, definitely. But I've also never worked in an environment where nail polish was a problem -- I teach piano lessons, and the girls I teach love to talk nail polish with me!

  3. I loooooove this. I work in the school system and I do my nails depending on whether I will be at high school or elementary school. The students at both levels love it, but I feel like the bright/super obvious/glittery stuff belongs at elementary... and only if I don't have any important meetings :)

Oh and I've done counseling groups where we do our nails. It's great!

    1. This makes me so unbelievably happy to hear you say that.

Growing up, we lived in a National Park, so in order to come in from town, we would go through an entrance where someone would check to see if we were local, or visitors to the park. If we lived in the town, we were local and wouldn't have to pay to get in. This is all my 2nd grade memory telling me this, so I could be mucking up the details.

Anyway, one of the women who worked at the entrance would have different fingernail polish colors most of the time. Whenever she worked, I would be so excited to see the color of her fingernails. She eventually learned my name and the car we would drive up in. She'd always show me, and it made me so happy.

So kudos to you for thinking of the kids! Truly.

    1. Well thank you! It appears more red in person, but I suppose a deep red works as well.
