Inktober Day 18: Misfit

Halloween may be THE holiday for misfits, because on that night, no one fits anywhere, and that's why it's beautiful.

But if there were ever Halloween royalty, Wednesday Addams would be its princess. She's the ultimate misfit, and embraces it fully. So from anyone who's ever felt like an outsider, thank Ms. Addams!

Inktober Day 18 - Misfit

I used this design as inspiration for her portrait, and only 3 colors for the look: Black Hole from INM, Sharktooth from Jessica Cosmetics, and Skull & Glossbones from OPI.

Rev Your Engines

You know me as a nail artist. Some of you know me as a nail tech. Some of you are friends, and some of you are family, and know me as such. None of you know me as a race car driver though. And after speeding a kart around a track at 40 MPH last night at Unser, none of you will. I came in last...but gracefully, and with style, thanks to this racing look I did beforehand.

Checker and stripe nail art

There are actually 5 colors used here, but the unsung hero that is Sharktooth (Jessica Cosmetics) is the white beneath the red and yellow to pop them. That beautiful blue is Sia, and the yellow is Darcy, both from Zoya. The fiery red is Flame-boyant (China Glaze) and the black is Black Onyx (OPI).

Cosmoprof North America 2014: Jessica Cosmetics

Another great installment of what I got to see at Cosmoprof North America 2014 for you tonight. Unlike other bloggers, I purposely decided to split up the Cosmoprof 2014 posts so you can continually be excited by them. To see them all, browse the CPNA2014 tag.

The time I was able to spend with the Jessica Cosmetics rep was very brief, and they had appointment after appoinment, so I couldn't spend a ton of time getting all the details. Here's what I was able to gather from the rep though. All in all, it's exciting, and my favorite collection (Autumn in New York) I'll review for you at the bottom of this post, so don't miss it!

Here's a sneak peak at the nail art, to entice you to read on...

Jessica Cosmetics - Coral Symphony Spring 2014 Collection Swatches & Review

Up for your viewing pleasure is something I've been wanting to try - Jessica Cosmetics polishes. I've seen the line used by other bloggers, and have wanted to give them a try myself, so today's post features their spring 2014 line of colors, Coral Symphony.

I liked the way the colors bled into one another, complementing each other well while also creating a beautiful fading rainbow if lined up against one another. I thought it'd look good as an ikat gradient (similar to my running gradient technique used and shown in a tutorial here).

The colors applied really well. They masterfully laid on my nail in two creamy coats each. I love creme finishes, and these all had that. I wasn't the biggest fan of the brush, but as a tech, I've gotten used to the OPI brush, so I may just be biased toward that.

For swatches of these colors, read on!
